FLCL

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

I finally finished another background for my website. It usually takes me an hour after the initial drawing to digitize a composition but I took my time on this one (too many other things on the plate). It is a tribute to Hajime Ueda who works on the art for FLCL by GAINAX and published by TokyoPop. If you have a chance to read this it is a funny graphic novel. What I like about the art is the rugged look and feel. The image below is of the character Naota, ofcourse I’ve taken some freedom to kinda do my own thing however the style is somewhat the same. I’ve always admired the works by Microbians. Curves don’t matter as much. But in my composition I didn’t want to let go of curves completely. I think its a good balance. So tribtues to Hajime and Gabriel of Microbians.

Perfect Fools

Studio: Perfect Fools. Awesome website with a unique navigation paradigm. The Sweden, Norway, Finland, and most of the countries in north east Europe are bringing good ideas into interactive design. If you have the chance to view their reel do so, it’s amazing.

Power of Voice

Thursday, September 15th, 2005

Voice has a powerful way of changing perception. Perception can be visual, ofcourse audible, but also emotional - and much more. Voice with the right tonal quality can encourage you or can plunge you to eminent depression. One can save a life or encourage death. Unfortunately for me, I have a particular sensitivity to my fiancee - other people (other than close friends and family)? NO, weird, I could give a rat’s ass. I always find that if I have a good day - its due to the encouragement of my wife to be……….bad day - well it is usually due to wifey to bees concentration of negative energy in life. WE. Still, nobody will ever make me as happy. Maybe one…….but at the end of time, we will meet up again.

Dot frenzy

I am now the proud owner of mapbloggers.com, dreamstasis.com, pixelboost.com, and pixelsinmyhead.com. Pixelsinmyhead.com was inspired by Creatures in My Head. What an awesome site and creative artist, Andrew Bell. Why buy those sites? Hell why not? It’s cheap plus I see potential. Hopefully within the next couple of months I’ll be finishing some of my own personal projects to start new ones. I’m planning to utilize Google’s APIs to try to make something (hush hush). These are new and exciting times - especially with all the buzz surrounding semantic web and “web 2.0″. Good times good times - maybe someday I’ll be able to talk about the crazy and exciting things we are doing at work.

A slew of good news

Saturday, September 3rd, 2005

As of last Saturday night, I am officially engaged to be married. Quite exciting :-D . The boys at work were actually quite supportive but then later joked around with the idea of it. Nothing cynical but jokingly. Then another good set of news on Tuesday night - my niece is having a baby, I will be a great uncle (I think). I bet my big brother is excited. Thanks everyone for the all support. Everybody has been excited so far. So much planning to do and so many good ideas we’ve seen from other weddings. But we have our own ideas as well. I can’t wait…..
